VALENTINES

what a treat it was to spend valentines with my favorite people. niko was so excited to get so many valentines from his friends at school and shared his treats with luna and i. raoul and i didn't plan a big day but it turned out to be pretty perfect. we headed out to his parents pretty early. went over to the grocery store and bought everything i needed to cook for my in-laws. i made them chicken mole, mexican rice and beans, with homemade horchata. its not often that i cook for them so they just relaxed and i think they actually enjoyed the food. raoul and i later escaped for a bit, we went to moca, then had dinner at el cholo and then did a little bit of record shopping at amoeba. its not too often that raoul and i get to go on dates, alone. we certainly do enjoy our time together though. we made each other laugh the whole night. my date also impressed me with his photography skills. he grabbed my slr and snapped a couple of amazing shots, who knew?

PUPPY LOVE

if you follow me on instagram, then you'd know niko is in love. yes, my little four year old has found love at his preschool. its so adorable the way he talks about her! he says she's his "sweetheart" and that he loves her. he also says she's a princess and is always thinking of giving her presents. so far we've bought her a little princess pencil, sharpener, eraser, notebook pack. then he came up with making her a gift. i wouldn't say Niko is the most artistic kid so it really surprised me when he made her a gift out of playdough. he glued some plastic gems and stuck some feathers on it. and before he went to school we glued it on a purple piece of paper with his name on it. we walked into his class monday morning and niko's teacher asked him about it. she was playing with cecelia (his girlfriend) and other classmates at the time. and i could tell cecelia thought it was a nice project he had made. niko then told his teacher that it was for cecelia and when his teacher announced it cecelia was surprised and thanked him. watching him talk about her and even hang out with her is the sweetest thing in the world. they play outside in the playground together, and sit next to each other during circle time. it is the purest most innocent love i have ever seen. and he is so proud that he is in love. he tells everyone, "i have a girlfriend because i love her!".... i don't remember ever having a boyfriend in school but from what my mil tells me Raoul has been a lover boy since he was four years old too! i am proud of niko for being so expressive of his feelings though, even though they might not be validated by most adults. when you are in love, you're in love... no matter what age you are.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

today was pretty insane. i had so much to do to get ready to go to the lulu's mixer in downtown. i kinda feel bad i didn't celebrate luna's half birthday in a special way but sunday is totally dedicated to her and niko bee. tomorrow i will be at blogher all day and night. im really excited because just going to the lulu's mixer today was an introduction of what this whole blogher business is about. its so cool to meet women with common interests. they're such a breath of fresh air.
anyhow, today's flashback friday photo is my little luna at about two months old. this was her first trip to the beach and like the beach bum that she is, she enjoyed it very much. and i don't want to be a hoarder or anything but i think im keeping this outfit. its special, you know? by the way.. i will post my photo challenge photos tomorrow. keeping up with it has gotten tough, already. what else is new? xoxo Liz

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

it is friday already. it seems this week just flew by in a blink. yesterday morning papa took little niko bee to his grandma's house in l.a. so i am hanging out with my baby girl and its been pretty quiet around these parts. i do enjoy my alone time with luna but i still miss the chaos and sweetness my baby boy brings to my life. they will be back sunday morning, hopefully earlier than later. today i got to see my friend lynda and her sweet son though.. we had a small date to target. you know because we're cool like that. we only do cool things around here, jk. this picture was taken the day niko turned three whole months at a pool party raoul was playing at in l.a., that was an extremely hot summer, this year doesn't compare to that heat. i kept the outfit he is wearing in the picture and every time i see it i can't believe how tiny niko was at one point. now he's over here talking about super mario and boobies. ah, the joy of having a baby boy. have an amazing weekend y'all! xo Liz

I MISS HIM!

He has been gone for over a month now and still has a couple weeks to go.. Currently in Russia, my love has been on his European tour playing in Siberia, Belgium, Poland, U.K., France and some other countries, I can't even keep up with his schedule. Some people ask me how I do it while he's gone for so long, I just do. It never gets easier for me and now Niko is the one who is so sad missing his papa. I miss kissing him and cuddling with him. I miss cooking for him. I miss taking walks in our neighborhood with him and the kids. I miss watching him play with Niko and Luna. I miss his music and silly dances and jokes. I miss watching movies and drinking wine with him after the kids go to bed. He is the cheese to my macaroni, the tapatio to my tacos, the only man i want to kiss. The smartest , funniest most amazing guy I've ever met. He's also the best dad in the world. I can not wait to see him! I LOVE YOU RAOUL!
