BEING YOUNG

i realized last week i kept going on about being able to hang with friends and have that free time to myself again.. and i thought i sound unrealistic. like those moms who still go out a couple times a week and don't put their kids to bed. the moms who are always trying to find someone else to watch their kids because they don't wanna let go of the good times with their single friends and face responsibility. well, i have never been that mom and i can count with one hand the times my sisters have watched my kids so i can go out to watch raoul play a show. i have never hired a babysitter but have been really wanting to. so that the mister and i can have some quiet time to ourselves and invest in our relationship. the relationship that keeps this family going, i find it very important to keep that spark lit. most nights we stay up and watch movies after the kids go to bed, and that's our time. but i really want to have dinner and a movie with him soon. i want to dress up and actually go somewhere for adults. i mean, its been months i don't think im asking for too much here.
back to the good old days, when i talk on here about my party girl past... i am not saying it because that's who i want to be again. its just that for many many years its who i was. i feel in order for anybody to understand me or anyone for that matter, you have to understand the past. i do intend to get more into detail about my past and random stories in the future, specially friday posts since i like to reflect and do "flashback friday" themed posts.
these two photos were taking on really fun and careless days for me. first photo i was walking a doggy i loved very much, his name was jozsef and we call him joe. there was a party going on at the park. and second photo i was pretty drunk at mardi grass. i thought about that photo after posting yesterdays photo of luna wearing my lace headband. i think it looks a lot better on her! the two beautiful friends in the photo are very special to me. they are always there still, through the good and the bad. and that's what i call real love.

p.s. these photos are so old i had to go to myspace to get them! hahaha. i tried like eight times because i didn't remember the password. nowadays myspace seems so cheap and tacky and i think in the future facebook will be looked upon that way, oh technology is crazy i tell ya! 

SAPPY MOM MOMENT

as i mentioned before i lost every single photo i ever posted on the blog.. so its not like i can link back to a post. i wish i could so i could revisit luna's birthday celebration last year. so much happens within one year and its photos that can help me visualize the moments. still bummed about my photos on the blog but im thankful that we have had some incredible experiences in our lives. this child of mine will be two on sunday. and i might cry. seriously though... i am feeling so emotional about my baby turning two. i just want to pause my life for a moment and stare at my kids. i mean, i do it while they sleep but its a part of parenting i guess. with all the sappiness said, i am incredibly grateful for having such a sweet little girl. she is my world.

AND... last years birthday video. Papa put together small clips of Luna's first year and this song by the beatles was just the perfect one to go along with it. i remember putting her to sleep while i sang that song to her. this year we haven't done enough video of them to put together something like this but i do want to make one every year. we'll see what we come up with! xoxo. 

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

we took niko to the hello kitty 35th anniversary exhibition in l.a. two years ago while i was pregnant and omg, it was cuteness galore. they had many artists paint their own versions of hello kitty and put them up for action and of course i wanted the bunny kitty one but there was rooms filled with cute hello kitty paintings, i was going nuts. our friend was dj-ing and they had hello kitty decorated food. i wish i could go back in time and actually buy a painting, luna is a huge hello kitty fan and she's only 18 months. luna watches the 1980's hello kitty cartoons and i don't even think she blinks. look at niko's little smile! he used to make the cutest faces for pictures and would even stay still and now he looks away or looks down. i have to beg or bribe niko for photos nowadays... and i had forgot that at one point he owned overalls. he's been asking for overalls lately and i just can't find them anywhere. why would a three year old want overalls anyways? super mario. some kids idolize super man, or spider man but little niko bee loves his mario more than any other character. niko also tells me he wants a mustache. he's such a funny kid. i can't wait to get him back today since he's been at his grandmas since wednesday. happy weekend guys! don't forget to enter the shutterfly giveaway, just click HERE. xo Liz

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

today was pretty insane. i had so much to do to get ready to go to the lulu's mixer in downtown. i kinda feel bad i didn't celebrate luna's half birthday in a special way but sunday is totally dedicated to her and niko bee. tomorrow i will be at blogher all day and night. im really excited because just going to the lulu's mixer today was an introduction of what this whole blogher business is about. its so cool to meet women with common interests. they're such a breath of fresh air.
anyhow, today's flashback friday photo is my little luna at about two months old. this was her first trip to the beach and like the beach bum that she is, she enjoyed it very much. and i don't want to be a hoarder or anything but i think im keeping this outfit. its special, you know? by the way.. i will post my photo challenge photos tomorrow. keeping up with it has gotten tough, already. what else is new? xoxo Liz

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

it is friday already. it seems this week just flew by in a blink. yesterday morning papa took little niko bee to his grandma's house in l.a. so i am hanging out with my baby girl and its been pretty quiet around these parts. i do enjoy my alone time with luna but i still miss the chaos and sweetness my baby boy brings to my life. they will be back sunday morning, hopefully earlier than later. today i got to see my friend lynda and her sweet son though.. we had a small date to target. you know because we're cool like that. we only do cool things around here, jk. this picture was taken the day niko turned three whole months at a pool party raoul was playing at in l.a., that was an extremely hot summer, this year doesn't compare to that heat. i kept the outfit he is wearing in the picture and every time i see it i can't believe how tiny niko was at one point. now he's over here talking about super mario and boobies. ah, the joy of having a baby boy. have an amazing weekend y'all! xo Liz

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

this flashback only goes back one year. niko's second birthday party, back when he was wild for yo gabba gabba. his favorite character was brobee (the green one) and he still likes the show and sometimes watches the dvds but super mario has taken over his life. last years party was celebrated only two blocks away from home at a tiny park that we go to all the time. the cake was made by my friend's mom and my friend valerie painted kids faces. i was so honored that she could come and do that for the kids because she's such a talented makeup artist. i mean this girl does new york and paris fashion week, magazines and commercials. but she's such a good sport about everything and loves her niko bee. and niko goes crazy for her too. when the kids were breaking the muno piñata niko got a little worried and didn't want the kids to hit it. it was really sweet and i kinda felt bad because he didn't understand why they were hitting his buddy muno. but he quickly got over it and was happy that once they broke it candy came out. i also got crayons made from a seller on etsy and made some muno, brobee and plex shirts out of felt. they were pretty easy to make but i was alone for so long with the kids so time was really not on my side and i glued them instead of sewing them. i think they would of been a lot better sewed. anyways. tomorrow i will come back with nikos third birthday party. have an awesome weekend! xoxo liz

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

wow, we got one more week until niko's third birthday party. i really hope everything goes smoothly because kids parties are known to be a bit stressful. but thankfully, we have grandma's help this time and she's a pro. can you say best grandma ever?
i still remember the days when niko was this small (about 6months) such a happy, chubby baby. this is one of my favorite things he's ever worn too. he was so cozy during the winter and looked so cute. lately nikos been saying that he's sick and he wants to go to the doctor. and when i ask him what's wrong he answers some random part of his body is hurting but pauses to make up what it is. such a little riot that niko. gotta love his spunk!

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

this is niko month, he will be turning three years old at the end of june. here he is with his one true love, the pacifier. this kid still loves the damn pacifier. am i proud to say that? not really. i wish it was easier to take it away because come on, he's gonna be three extremely soon and i don't want to send him to pre-school with that piece of plastic in his mouth. anyways, i don't mean to get all political on you guys but this is niko's first protest in downtown los angeles. he was such a good boy during the protest, we marched and chanted and he was such a trooper. i actually remember getting emotional at this protest. luna went to her first protest when she was only three months. both of my kids are little activists in the making, i am already proud. happy weekend! xoxo

FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

Ran into this picture of my love and I. It was New Years Eve 2007 and I was about 3 months pregnant, carrying our Niko Bee. Raoul was playing at a big hip hop show that night. There was tons of people, I got to see MF Doom, KRS ONE and had our New Years kiss on stage since he was playing at midnight. I cherish these memories so much. Once I became a mother I have been the happiest in my life, I truly appreciate each day now. xoLiz
