LUNA IS THREE.

my girl turned three years old yesterday. just like that. when luna was a baby, i couldn't wait for her to be the age she is now. i was eager to hear her voice and see her running around, and now i find it hard to let her babyhood go. i know, growth is inevitable, but it hurts a little. nevertheless, we had a great celebration of my girls birthday yesterday. we started off with a donut tower cake for breakfast with the birthday song, of course. milk was served. then we headed off to the l.a. zoo. it was the perfect gloomy-overcast day to be walking around and looking at the animals. our day was thoroughly enjoyed. we came home with starving bellies, had dinner opened presents and then ate cake. a pretty perfect low key celebration of my most favorite girl, ever.

THE PORT

we live extremely close to the port of l.a., im talking a few blocks. no wonder its been so cold lately, i forget where we live now. this week i took the kiddos there to walk around and get out of the house since its been so cold we haven't been able to do much. then i realized why i stay home. we froze out booties off the entire time. we found a few adorable spots and snapped some photos, then rushed home to make dinner and put on our pj's.

ONE LAST WEAR

since moving ten days ago i have cleaned out everyones closets so much that i realized we gotta go little kid shopping again. luna has grown out all her shoes, she only has vans and gold mary janes that still fit her... i just hate paying full price for things she will only wear a couple months. am i just stingy or do we all feel like that? anyway.. onto a funner topic. today luna wore this cute little vintage dress one more time... and these little moccasins that never really stayed on her feet to begin with. we went on a really fun play date with a sweet girl i met through instagram. i have met a couple mama's through blogging and instagram and as weird as it may seem to people who don't use these types of medias, its pretty natural to me. we have followed each other for a while and interact through there and email and instagram, blogs, facebook and even twitter can be so personal sometimes that you really do feel like you know these people. but its even better when you actually meet in person, then it just solidifies your friendship and the connection to these people. my kids had a lot of fun playing tag and playing in their cardboard house. i am so happy to have another mom friend that is so sweet and easy going. she even made me a pie with the apples from her tree. that was so thoughtful (and delicious!). being a mom of two in a city where i don't know anybody can get lonely... i just gotta remind myself to get in the car and just drive. there's a whole world out there and there is fun to be had.
dress: little reader vintage. shoes: minnetonka moccasins, from san diego farmers market.

LIFE WITH LUNA

well for the most part luna is the best little girl. she goes with the flow, doesn't ask for too much. she makes messes in her little corner and is happy as can be. i took her bottle away and replaced it with a sippy cup when she turned a year old and she was fine with it. but since then, she's become addicted to it. she sucks on it like a pacifier and its created an overbite. her bottom teeth go back and the top teeth are just really bucky. it looks cute now but i imagine her having a hard time when she gets older. plus there comes a time when toddlers just shouldn't be sucking on cups all day. it also stopped her from eating normal food. she always requested milk and didn't accept anything else that she filled up on it & ate little or no food. i took it away last week and it was so difficult. there was so much crying during the day and at night. we replaced her cup with disposable cups with straws. that was a big mess. and after the fourth night, raoul and i gave up and gave her back her cup. mama & papa, fail. at first i was disappointed that we gave up on it but i think it has helped her since during the day she asks to drink water & organic orange, banana & strawberry juice. and she has been eating regular food a lot more. still, i need to deal with situations better. i let niko use a pacifier until he was 3 & now i have a similar situation on my hands. a mama never stops learning how to be better for her kids right? i know in the future i will have tons of harder dilemmas on my hands but right now, i am dealing with this.

Niko's grandma bought him this outfit @ kohls...
Luna's dress was gifted. its from target & vintage moccasins were bought from a farmers market in san diego.

FARMERS MARKET LOVE

last week we stopped at the farmers market for some produce and i love buying my food there. the last couple weeks for some reason or another i missed my chance on going. and the kids favorite fruit is strawberries like their mama. we love them so much. i wanted to get strawberries to have when niko came back from his grandma's house. he loves his grandma so much, he stayed with her for three days! it was weird not having him home for that long, our days were so quiet and didn't feel right. but then again i enjoy the alone time with luna. i loved this outfit on her. she wore a handed down shirt from her big brother too. she reminded me of snoop dogg with those chucks. & since we live in long beach i think it's mandatory that we own a pair of chucks. i've had mine for about ten years! those shoes and i have been through a lot!
it was really funny because the strawberry vendors are so silly every time we go. they were saying to put luna up on the table to photograph with all their strawberries. i could imagine my girl just breaking the table! but they're also really sweet, they gave Luna the biggest strawberry they had. and she ate it happily.

Luna wore: shirt, target. overalls, h&m. tights, handed down. shoes, converse.

THE SWEETS

as i had mentioned in my last post, there were a little bit more i wanted to share about luna's party. but since we share a computer and a laptop over here its been hard to get online and download photos, specially when both of our computers are kinda having issues. this post is not just about the cupcakes, cakes, cake-pops.. all though they were all extremely cute and tasty. i wanted to say thank you to everyone who was at luna's birthday party, specially the ones who drove two hours from san diego to celebrate this special girl's birthday. i was so happy to see so many faces that i just love so much and kinda sad that with all the chaos of hosting a birthday party i didn't have enough time to talk and enjoy my beautiful guests. and my mom helped me so much in just two days, she is amazing. she cooked most of the food, and helped me clean and even reupholstered six of my dining room chairs. it was all team work between my sister, my mom and i but seriously she did so much work and for that i am truly grateful. i have no idea what the party would have been without this amazing lady. we had cupcakes made by the ever so talented jenny of sin sweets. and aren't they the cutest cupcakes ever? i made a cake super last minute and added hello kitty cake decorations from party city. we rented a jumper and my sisters and mom made three cheesecakes! raoul's sister made the cutest hello kitty cake-pops too, i love her so much! the day before the party i made a dozen bows with felt, pink and red for little girls to wear like hello kitty and they were a hit! i really hope that with time i get better at this whole party thing.. it is just overwhelming at the time and before but once its over i think.. that was nice! you know like after the kids go to sleep i think, man i have the cutest little angels but when they're awake and out of control im thinking, please go to sleep already! am i horrible for this? okay, im rambling.. now prepare yourself for photo overload. xo
