SHOP FANCY FREE

i jumped on the bandwagon. i started an instagram shop last week after procrastinating over where to... ebay, etsy, instagram... and let me tell you why instagram won. its one less fee to worry about and its easier to post and keep track of your sales and communication with buyers and other sellers is way easier because its all on your cell phone. if you haven't shopped on instagram yet, here's how it works: i post a photo of the item i am selling with details including brand, size and price and if you're interested you comment with your paypal address, i invoice and then ship.
there are tons of shops from mamas just like me, selling items their children have outgrown. then there's some more serious sellers who will shop to resell. because there are so many sellers its crucial that i keep my prices low, but not too low because i still need to pay shipping & there is a small paypal fee. which in the long run add up. you know i love instagram and its my social media of choice recently and there's an awesome sense of community, and just one week with my shop and i'm already getting that feedback from fellow mamas & shop owners.  here's my shop fancy free :)

SANTA WAS HERE

this has got to be one of the most laid back christmases since i've been a mama. i haven't done much shopping yet... and haven't stressed about it. today i just figured out what i will get the kids and most likely do my shopping during the week. but since niko's in school now, and its a co-op, we've had a couple christmas events and they were so fun for the whole family. each year niko's school has a block party with all the other businesses on the same street and we "the school" host the santa claus. raoul was in charge of setting up the booth and was so proud of the backdrop for the photos. he was able to hang out with the other moms and get a kick out of their silly sense of humor... we love all the families in niko's preschool. i love the sense of community the co-op brings. the day after raoul and i took luna to see "elvis santa" at my favorite vintage shop in long beach, in retrospect. niko was at his grandmas house and after being sick and cooped up in the house all day, we decided to get out and get a photo with the silly elvis santa. both santa photos aren't smiley... but they're not crying either so it's a win for me!
luna's dress: handed down, baby gap. niko's sweater: target. beanie, oshkosh.
i didn't take many photos of the christmas parade because we were in it. and it was starting to rain but since we we're close to the front of the line i was able to snap these and posted them on instagram.

ONE LAST WEAR

since moving ten days ago i have cleaned out everyones closets so much that i realized we gotta go little kid shopping again. luna has grown out all her shoes, she only has vans and gold mary janes that still fit her... i just hate paying full price for things she will only wear a couple months. am i just stingy or do we all feel like that? anyway.. onto a funner topic. today luna wore this cute little vintage dress one more time... and these little moccasins that never really stayed on her feet to begin with. we went on a really fun play date with a sweet girl i met through instagram. i have met a couple mama's through blogging and instagram and as weird as it may seem to people who don't use these types of medias, its pretty natural to me. we have followed each other for a while and interact through there and email and instagram, blogs, facebook and even twitter can be so personal sometimes that you really do feel like you know these people. but its even better when you actually meet in person, then it just solidifies your friendship and the connection to these people. my kids had a lot of fun playing tag and playing in their cardboard house. i am so happy to have another mom friend that is so sweet and easy going. she even made me a pie with the apples from her tree. that was so thoughtful (and delicious!). being a mom of two in a city where i don't know anybody can get lonely... i just gotta remind myself to get in the car and just drive. there's a whole world out there and there is fun to be had.
dress: little reader vintage. shoes: minnetonka moccasins, from san diego farmers market.

LIFE WITH LUNA

well for the most part luna is the best little girl. she goes with the flow, doesn't ask for too much. she makes messes in her little corner and is happy as can be. i took her bottle away and replaced it with a sippy cup when she turned a year old and she was fine with it. but since then, she's become addicted to it. she sucks on it like a pacifier and its created an overbite. her bottom teeth go back and the top teeth are just really bucky. it looks cute now but i imagine her having a hard time when she gets older. plus there comes a time when toddlers just shouldn't be sucking on cups all day. it also stopped her from eating normal food. she always requested milk and didn't accept anything else that she filled up on it & ate little or no food. i took it away last week and it was so difficult. there was so much crying during the day and at night. we replaced her cup with disposable cups with straws. that was a big mess. and after the fourth night, raoul and i gave up and gave her back her cup. mama & papa, fail. at first i was disappointed that we gave up on it but i think it has helped her since during the day she asks to drink water & organic orange, banana & strawberry juice. and she has been eating regular food a lot more. still, i need to deal with situations better. i let niko use a pacifier until he was 3 & now i have a similar situation on my hands. a mama never stops learning how to be better for her kids right? i know in the future i will have tons of harder dilemmas on my hands but right now, i am dealing with this.

Niko's grandma bought him this outfit @ kohls...
Luna's dress was gifted. its from target & vintage moccasins were bought from a farmers market in san diego.

SATURDAY LOVE

wow, our electricity was off yesterday for hours and it just changed up our whole two days. there was  a power outage from arizona to mexico to san diego and orange county. it pretty much sucked but we survived. one thing i realized was that we are not even prepared for a earthquake or any type of natural disaster which, we are so due for an earthquake. not like i want one but its only a matter of time. anyhow, i got some super exciting news, we are moving to long beach in a couple weeks!! los angeles is not really my thing everybody knows this but i gotta do whats best for our family and we got a really cute house with a nice yard that has avocado trees. i mean, i haven't seen the inside only raoul has gone in but i saw the outside and the avocado trees won me over. i will save a whole bunch of money with these trees, its like it was sent to me from heaven or something, luna and i love munching on avocados! so here are a couple things i am loving  this weekend, enjoy my picks and have yourself an awesome weekend! peace and love, Liz

WHY I LOVE LUNA IN VINTAGE

i recently got this dress from hart+sew and its just the cutest thing ever. i love seeing my daughter in such pretty dresses. we went to my niece's party this weekend and luna rocked her dress with a high 1960's style pony tail, which she is making me want bangs right about now. i have been going back and forth in my head about bangs because they look so awesome but its a hassle for me to keep up with them. my hair grows super quick and getting to the salon is not always the easiest thing for me. anyhow, i wore a new vintage top that i wish came out better in these photos because i really do love it. but i will just have to wear it again just to show it off to all you fellow vintage lovers. have an amazing week, peace and ♥

EIGHTEEN MONTHS OF CUTENESS

i see my baby girl so big when i look at these photos but then realize she's still a baby. as time flies by i learn to accept that my little ones are growing and we will all be in different stages in our lives very soon. i am currently thinking of putting niko in a pre-school part time. and i will keep luna at home until she's three.
she learns everything from her big brother so she is so brave for her age. like, last week she went down the big slide and did a flip on the way down. she was surprised and had a look on her face like, what happened? but she didn't cry. she just dusted herself off and went about her business. and every time i go to the park parents stop to ask me about her hair and how old she is because her hair is almost at waist length. it just grows and grows. i don't even think its normal but i love her hair, so beautiful and shiny. these photos were taken on sunday, when niko was at his grandma's house. here is a list of some of luna's favorite things, in no particular order...
  1. milk
  2. her family
  3. hello kitty, elmo and pocoyo
  4. spaghetti
  5. strawberries
  6. being outside
  7. people watching
  8. reading books
  9. playing with her big brother
  10. grandma's back yard
  11. making messes
  12. bubbles
  13. taking baths
  14. baby dolls
  15. playing with the sand at the beach (and eating sand too)
  16. dancing
  17. singing the a,b,c song.
  18. petting puppies
  19. being carried around the house
  20. brushing her teeth

jumper, vintage. onesie, baby gap. sandals, salt water.

SATURDAY LOVE

this morning my little girl and i went to the farmers market and got a bunch of tomatoes, red ones and yellow ones. im excited to taste the yellow ones! i am so lucky the farmers market sets up only a block away from home every saturday. and luna just loves riding in her buggy and checking out everything. she's an observer for sure. then we hung out at the park for way too long, made friends with some cool parents and learned about the schools in our neighborhood. like, i didn't know the elementary across the street taught the kids to speak german. that's pretty cool. anyways, here's some photos i found in my computer today that i love. hope you're all having a lovely weekend! hugs and smiles, Liz ♥

aren't bunnies cute? this is how i think of my mischievous bunny i had a couple years ago. she was bad.
the chem-trails topic is pretty hard to follow since nobody really knows the truth behind them. and the people  who know don't want to talk about it. its pretty suspicious to me and people like Prince and Dick Gregory have spoke about this subject too and some say its a way to depopulate due to its negative effect. sorry, i know this is a lot and i don't want to ruin your weekend but it's something to think about.
raoul and i have been talking about getting bikes as soon as we move but we haven't spoke about getting a sound system to ride with us. if we didn't have kids to lug around i wouldn't mind bringing these huge speakers with me. can you say, bumpin?!
i miss my boys, they're in l.a. right now and home is so quiet without them. photo was taken at a beach in hawaii last year.
i love how the word gay or gayer was used so freely back in the day, now its used as an insult. i love my gays. like, a lot.
true, moms do it all. aren't we the best? just kidding. much love to all the amazing papas out there, specially this one.
how sweet is this vintage pepsi machine? although i have given up drinking soda for the most part, pepsi is my favorite and i do drink it during special occasions. we don't bring it home anymore though. its just a bad habit i knew we had to kick.
a couple weeks ago we spent the weekend with our friends from l.a. our friend margy made chinese and thai food and
it was so delicious. then we spent the day at balboa park and around our neighborhood.
this photo was sent to me yesterday and i just love it. i mean, i love us. so proud to have such a happy and healthy family.
i'd like to call this, the one that got away. i was about to purchase and some lucky person snatched it.
i wanted this for luna, i love this color and its from the 1930's, that's just amazing to me.
i want to make something like this when we move to l.a., just coziness with a bunch of pillows for movie time.

NOTE: since these photos have been in my computer for a really long time i don't know where i got them from.
so sorry for not crediting. if you know where a photo is from let me know so i can credit. thanks.

mustard baby romper is from flour. and the lovely couch is from papier mache mag
