HALLOWEEN 2012

i am so tired from last night right now, yesterday was fun and super busy for the kids and i. luna actually wore four costumes, none of which i had to buy. she wore nikos brobee costume from two years ago during the weekend to a haunted house in the lighthouse close to where we live. niko didn't feel like dressing up and i didn't pressure him to do so. yesterday morning niko didn't want to wear his costume to school so i bagged it up and told him he could wear it later if he felt like it. when it was time to pick him up he was wearing his super mario costume (from last year) and was in full character. he wanted his teacher and schoolmates to call him mario, not niko. he kept jumping around like super mario and was excited for the day. i brought luna with me to trick or treat with nikos class, around the businesses on the block. some moms where dressed up, i wasn't, lame! ha. i had a robot-alien costume that never got worn last year but luna only wore it for an hour, it was a bit bulky. so i dressed her like friday khalo, the only thing i had to buy was the flowers for her hair. easy, cheap and cute. later in the day papa, luna and i painted our faces to be the band kiss. niko didn't feel like being the other member of our band even after i begged him to. oh well! we trick or treated around his grandma's house and hung out with their grandparents while papa did his weekly radio show at night. it was so nice to go by this holiday without actually purchasing any costumes, although i feel bad i let niko down with the luigi costume he wanted. when i tried to buy a costume, everyone was sold out. because of course it was like two days before halloween. but honestly, costumes haven't been a priority lately. when you're on a budget there are more important things than that. i hope niko understands that some day, he might be too young right now. but one thing for sure is, he had a really good halloween.
